Sharon Marie Turner, a beloved mother, matriarch, and grandmother earned her Heavenly wings on January 23. She was 71. A blessed woman of God, Sharon maintained a deep faith throughout her life and was a member of Eastern Star Church. She was a caring, compassionate and personable, easily striking up conversations and making friends with total strangers. She was motherly to just about everyone who came into her life, and loved to dote on friends and loved ones with gifts. Sharon would often buy for those she loved because she saw something she felt they would really like may like or enjoy. Her friendships spanned all ages and many of those she befriended would often reach out to her for advice on life, love and faith. Sharon was a strong woman of faith who raised her children to love the Lord. She enjoyed reading her Bible, was an intercessor prayer warrior. Sharon loved music, especially Gospel, movies, reading and traveling, with her favorite destinations being Jamaica, the Bahamas and Southern California. She loved to laugh, stay up late watching movies and spend quality time with her beloved rescue dog, “Puddin.” The daughter of Moses Lee and Mary Helen Whittaker, she was born and raised in Indianapolis and attended both Shortridge and Crispus Attucks High Schools. After high school, she began working in Transportation at Methodist Hospital before studying nursing, and embarking on her over 30 year career in that field. In addition to working at Methodist, she worked at the St. Vincent Hospital Pain Center, Dr. Sam Goodloe's Pain Management Clinic, MedWise, Centene and as a PRN Charge Nurse at several Indianapolis nursing homes. She is survived by her husband Lawrence Turner, son Kevin Terrell of Hawthorne, CA, daughters Tosha May and Kenya Turner and grandchildren Terrill May II (TJ), Tai May, and Sophia and Jagger Terrell.Sharon loved motherhood and being a grandmother and often remarked, “My kids are my life.”
Send flowers to the service of SHARON MARIE TURNER
One of the sweetest people I was blessed to meet nearly 30 years ago. Ms. Sharon always enveloped me with love and endearment. Whether in her presence or as of late, a message relayed through Tosha, I could feel the love she would shower so genuinely. And she gave that same gift of caring and sincerity to her daughters that introduced me to her. The strong bond between her children and grandchildren is so evident, even now through loss and pain. She raised 2 strong, confident black women with beauty inside and out, just like her. Strong work ethic, intelligent, love of family, love of neighbor, all inherited from Ms Sharon. Her legacy lives on as she now sleeps for a while. Like Lazarus, Jesus will soon call, and say, "Wake up, Sharon!" And my goal is to be there alongside others who love her so dearly to welcome her back, healthy & strong. Jehovah intended the earth to be a paradise with perfect mankind living upon it. (Psalms 37:29) His plan has not changed. His Kingdom will bring no more sickness, pain, or death (Revelation 21:3,4) He can't wait to reunite Ms Sharon with all who love and miss her. (John 5:28) This pain is only temporary, Turner family. With love, prayer for your family, and deepest sympathy, Tosha Scott.
I just want to thank you for sharing your mother with us! There was nothing like her warm greetings and hugs! I would always smile as I walked up to the 71st street Eastern Star satellite location and saw her car because I knew would be greeted with so much love as soon as I entered the building and saw her! Those weekly hugs and her sweet spirit meant the world to me and so many others. She shared her love with all of us, and we loved her. May the Lord comfort you all.
Mrs. Sharon, unfortunately I didnt get to know you in person, but you meant a lot to me. You were always so nice, patient, funny, talkative, during my late calls with Tosha. Just by your tone of voice, I was able to feel the love that you had to give with such a huge heart. I cant imagine how lucky were those who had the pleasure to meet you and create memories by your side. No wonder why your physical absence makes them feel lost. You were such a devoted mother and grandmother, you raised wonderful children, a united and loving family with values, strength and faith in God. With all those qualities its impossible not compare my mom with you and feel the pain your family is going through, because women like you are the root that holds us tight. You are a role model of the mother I want to be for my son, who I also call "my life" as you called your kids. As a person of faith, I am praying every day for strength to your family who miss you and were just not ready. I know that you, along with God, from heaven will give them guidance as to how to learn to live without your physical presence, because in their thoughts, hearts and memories you will always be alive. Enjoy HIS presence beautiful angel!
Mrs. Sharon, your mission in this world came to an end... I'm sure you lived and embraced this mission to the fullest. May you rest in peace and may God give your family peace, strength, courage and joy. - The Cestari family.
Mommy. My mommy. I am lost. Lost of words. Lost of joy. Lost of existence. What am I supposed to do? The days are long. But passing. Time is standing still. I want to go back . I want to go back to Thursday. The one day a week you didn't like, I want to go back to. I keep thinking and reflecting on what I could have done. Looking back on what I should have done. You are beautiful. You are so nurturing. You are so giving, so loving, generous, so genuine, so funny, and thoughtful and kind. So, so strong. The strongest person I will ever know. Mommy. What am I supposed to do? Thank you for EVERYTHING you have done for our family. Thank you for EVERYTHING you have done for my kids. THANK YOU for everything you did for me. And are STILL doing. You are our angel. Mommy. Had to cut the light off. I left your light on. Your bible open on your bed. Waiting for you to come home. Mommy. I'm sorry I had to cut it off. Mommy you're not coming home to me. You're not coming home to us. You went home to HIM. You said a few weeks ago you missed your mama and daddy so much. Now you are with them. You are home. We miss you mommy. We will always miss you mommy. We want you mommy . We weren't ready for this mommy. HE has you mommy. We love you mommy. Will ALWAYS love you mommy. I love you mommy. No more pain mommy. You were tired mommy. No more pain mommy. Only paradise mommy. Paradise mommy...
