Sarah Dennis, affectionately known as "PIE," was born September 8, 1929, in Clarksdale, Mississippi, to the late Jessie and Mary Bryant. She was the first of ten children. All of her siblings preceded her in death. Sarah moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, at the age of 25. She as united in holy matrimony to the late Roger W. Dennis, who also preceded her in death. PIE was a long-time member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years, and served on the #2 Usher Board. PIE was a very outspoken person, and never hesitated to speak her mind. She loved her family and friends and often opened her home to others for a hot, home-cooked meal. Some of her most memorable sayings were: "I said what I meant, and I meant what I said." "Don't mess with my flowers." "Don't be playing in front of that mirror, yo momma can't pay for that." "That ain't no curse word." "You crazy as a Bessie bug." "Come back and see me now, ya hear?" PIE had a very nurturing spirit and was a motherly figure to all who came in contact with her. PIE Had a love for jewelry, cooking, shopping, and gardening. She spent a lot of time tending to her beautiful garden and taking frequent trips to Waterman's Farm. PIE departed this earthly life on Friday, March 12, 2021, 1:42 AM, at the age of 91 years old. She was preceded in death by her nine siblings and two sons, Irvin L. Bryant and Timothy A. Jones. She leaves to cherish her memories her: children. Gwendolyn, Dwayne, Anthony, and Rachelle Dennis; grandchildren, Michael Harris, Sr. Christopher Sebree, Stephanie Dennis, Cory Wilson, Sarah D. Dennis, Deon Fisher, and Dominique Self; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great=grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
