Herman “H ” Webb, 81, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 10, 2021. Herman was born on August 16, 1939, to the union of George Webb, Sr., and Wilmetta Webb in Somerville, Tennessee. He received his education at Fayette County Training School before moving to Indianapolis, Indiana, in the late 1950s. He united in Holy matrimony to the then Georgia May Dickerson in 1959. They were married for 61 years until he departed this life. He professed Christ at an early age. Herman was a loving and generous father, grandfather, husband, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, and surrogate father who loved to laugh, tell jokes, and watch his favorite sports teams. In addition to being a part of a huge family, he served God and the Indianapolis community. Herman faithfully served at Kingsley Terrace Church of Christ for many years and later became a member of Metro Church of Christ, where many of his siblings attend. Herman was a loyal employee of Wonder Bread Baking Company for many years before working at Kroger Bakery as one of the plant’s first African American supervisors. He ultimately retired from Integrated Distribution Services, Inc. as a sanitation supervisor. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Wilmetta Webb; brothers, William Webb, Otha Webb, and James Webb; and sister, Georgia Lee Evans. Herman is survived by: his wife, Georgia Webb; children, Ronnie (Joyce) Carpenter, Lelia Buckley, Christie (Roderick, Sr.) Major, and Derwin L. (Aimee) Webb; siblings, Willola Webb, Richard (Kim) Webb, George (Doris) Webb, Lynn Gibson, Alpha (Phillip) Moran, and Solomon (Julie) Webb; grandchildren, Veronica Jamison, Andrea Stewart, Nicole Buckley Johnson, Roderick Major, Jr., Kellie Major, Langston Webb, Lawrence Webb, and Nariah Webb; along with a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, grandnieces, nephews, grandnephews, cousins, and countless colleagues and friends.
