Sharon Marie Turner, a beloved mother, matriarch, and grandmother earned her Heavenly wings on January 23. She was 71. A blessed woman of God, Sharon maintained a deep faith throughout her life and was a member of Eastern Star Church. She was a caring, compassionate and personable, easily striking up conversations and making friends with total strangers. She was motherly to just about everyone who came into her life, and loved to dote on friends and loved ones with gifts. Sharon would often buy for those she loved because she saw something she felt they would really like may like or enjoy. Her friendships spanned all ages and many of those she befriended would often reach out to her for advice on life, love and faith. Sharon was a strong woman of faith who raised her children to love the Lord. She enjoyed reading her Bible, was an intercessor prayer warrior. Sharon loved music, especially Gospel, movies, reading and traveling, with her favorite destinations being Jamaica, the Bahamas and Southern California. She loved to laugh, stay up late watching movies and spend quality time with her beloved rescue dog, “Puddin.” The daughter of Moses Lee and Mary Helen Whittaker, she was born and raised in Indianapolis and attended both Shortridge and Crispus Attucks High Schools. After high school, she began working in Transportation at Methodist Hospital before studying nursing, and embarking on her over 30 year career in that field. In addition to working at Methodist, she worked at the St. Vincent Hospital Pain Center, Dr. Sam Goodloe's Pain Management Clinic, MedWise, Centene and as a PRN Charge Nurse at several Indianapolis nursing homes. She is survived by her husband Lawrence Turner, son Kevin Terrell of Hawthorne, CA, daughters Tosha May and Kenya Turner and grandchildren Terrill May II (TJ), Tai May, and Sophia and Jagger Terrell.Sharon loved motherhood and being a grandmother and often remarked, “My kids are my life.”
