McGruff, was born March 7, 1974, to Terry and Alfonzo Warren. McGruff obtained his education from Northwest High School. McGruff worked various warehouse jobs, yet found the job of being a father the most rewarding of all.

McGruff had a kind heart and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was often known as the life of the party. He was a loving and devoted son to his mom and many others. McGruff departed this life on November 4, 2020, at the age of 46 years, seven months, and 28 days. He was preceded in by death by his brother, Bobby Lee Warren, and grandfather, James T. Matthews.

He leaves his loving memory to be cherished to: his parents, Terry and Alfonzo Warren; grandmother, Gloria Norington; children, Dontez, Shawn, Jr., Jada, Jayla, Jacelyn, Aceria, Jerome, Aiden, and Alyssa; longtime friend, Tanya Caballero; grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
